About
Mike Robinson is a 21-year-old web developer from Scotland currently residing in Reading, England. Since high school Mike has had a keen interest in the web, starting out with a very basic Geocities page and evolving into a passionate, professional web developer. Working as a developer for Lift, a creative communication design studio, Mike makes good use of his XHTML/CSS and templating skills. His work also involves extensive use of Movable Type, however he is also knowledgeable in Wordpress and Expression Engine. Mike's other skills include PHP, MySQL and JavaScript (with jQuery or MooTools).
Blurring the line between work and fun, Mike also uses his free time to peruse extra projects such as designing and developing free themes or blogging here at akamike. He also produces websites for friends and family with no compromise on quality. Mike is always up to something and the easiest way to keep updated is to subscribe to akamike or on Twitter.
Apart from indulging himself by coding, Mike is a gamer with particular interet in FPS and RPG games. At the moment he is getting stuck into Left 4 Dead.
While being as talented at the guitar as a man with no limbs, Mike does enjoy listening to music. A browse through his music library gives you a mix of indie, alternative and progressive rock, with some metal and electronic. His favourite bands include Oceansize, dredg, Pure Reason Revolution, Porcupine Tree, Modest Mouse, Amplifier, Aereogramme, The Postal Service, The Shins, Tool and Band of Horses. Feel free to send Mike some recommendations to his last.fm!
Mike also dabbles in cooking and wishes to improve his culinary skills. He rarely follows a cookbook, going for a more experimental and creative approach. Don't worry, you don't have to eat it!
